LD3 Curriculum

Young Simba Tested. Educator Approved.

This playbook is a labor of love created for educators, community members and parents/guardians to teach life lessons in an engaging and effective way with today’s generation in mind. By marrying valuable life lessons with references to memorable narratives from childhood, strong connections are formed in the brain that improve the ability to retain the information with positive reinforcement. Using repetition, games, rewards, songs, visuals, anthems and real-life application, a recipe for success is crafted right before your eyes that all participants can enjoy!

More than 20 years of research demonstrates that education promoting social and emotional learning (SEL) has a significant impact. The findings come from multiple fields and sources, including student achievement, neuroscience, health, employment, psychology, classroom management, learning theory, economics, and the prevention of youth problem behaviors. Grounded in a trauma-Informed care approach, sourced by the SAMHSA branch of the US Department of Health and Human Services, there is an unprecedented amount of evidence-based data that distinguishes this curriculum and its results from the rest of the competition.

The creator, Dr. Alexander Free Garland, is best known as Young Simba in Disney’s The Lion King Musical. The experience of being in the production, coupled with the challenges of growing through a life full of compounded traumas has led Dr. Free to create offerings that heal all who chose to engage. Designed to empower educators to begin to close the gap of disconnection created by recent events, impacting people worldwide, this playbook is a catered response that the educators enjoy facilitating just as much as the participants enjoy learning.
